Subject: Emails with certain file attachments are not sent by Domino server but in Notes Sent folder
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes Client
Technical Area: Functionality
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Always

Hi there

I have a customer that is running Lotus Notes 8.5.3. Not sure of the Domino server version (sorry!).

When they attach certain files to their emails and send them, the emails are "sent" by the Lotus Notes Client (they are in the "Sent" folder), but the recipient does not receive the email.

There is *no* message on the Domino Server to indicate that the message has been sent, or an error occurred with the message.

This seems to happen with some PowerPoint presentation files (.PPT). This is reproducible on other Lotus Notes clients within the office.

If the user subsequently send an email to the same recipient without an attachment, the email is received without problem and the message is noted in the Domino server log.

This is quite disturbing as the user has no way of knowing that the email was not successfully sent. (They don't want to tick "Return Receipt" on every email they send with attachments.)

Is there a local Lotus Notes log that may shed light on the problem? Or some diagnostic that can be run when the email is sent to trace it through the system?

Thanks in advance.

Chris
